FIT Church

Child Safety

Our commitment

At FIT Church, every child and young person is precious to God and to us. We're committed to the safety, wellbeing and dignity of every child who connects with our church, physically, emotionally, spiritually and culturally. Safety always comes before reputation, convenience or secrecy.

We follow Tasmania's Child and Youth Safe Standards, and we respect the right of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children to cultural safety.

How we keep kids safe

  • Every adult who serves in kids or youth ministry holds a current Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration, and we check it on the official register.
  • Every leader is screened, inducted and trained before they start, and refreshes their training every two years.
  • At least two screened adults are always present, with clear supervision ratios for each age group.
  • Parents are welcome to attend the FIT Kids classes.
  • Parents and carers handle all toilet trips and nappy changes.
  • We only take photos of children with a parent's consent, and we never tag children or share their personal details.
